Here are answers to some frequently asked questions about My Eco School.

If you can’t find the information that you’re looking for please

drop us a line or call 01634 729888.

1. How long does it take to install a school’s smart meters?

Installations are quick and straightforward. Depending upon how many meters your site requires it will be anything from a couple of hours to a day.

2. Will the installation process disrupt our gas or electricity supply in any way?

No, the smart meters work by taking information from your existing meters. We won’t need to turn any of your vital services off for installation.

3. We already have a water meter, can you link the readings to our My Eco School  website?

Yes, we should be able to do this. If you don’t have a water meter, but want to be able to monitor and reduce your school’s water consumption, your local water authority can arrange for a meter to be installed.

4. Is your installation team CRB-checked?

Yes. Everyone who visits schools from or on behalf of MyEcoSchool has a current CRB check.

5. Is My Eco School linked to any particular energy provider?

No, we’re not.

6. Will I need to switch my energy provider to use My Eco School?

No. We are all about changing the way we live, not who we pay our bills to.

7. How much time will my senior team need to dedicate to making My Eco School work?

This will be different in each school. You may have an existing Eco Coordinator who will take the lead on this project, or you may be starting from scratch. As with any new resource, the more people who engage with it, the easier it will be to implement.

To help you get started we  will do an initial INSET briefing to all your staff once your meters have been installed and configured, so that you are familiar with the service and its aims and outputs. We’ll also take you through the simple six step set up process that will get the service up and running, and look at how you might put it into action in your school.

8. What if we have a problem?

We’re here to help. Just pick up the phone or send us an email.
